Met someone up the allotment yesterday who plants potatoes in pots in the greenhouse in January and was just putting them out under glass yesterday for new potatoes in may - thought it sounded like a good idea has anyone else tried this?

I've grown them in pots in the greenhouses, 3 to a pot. Not very productive, but tasty nontheless.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Alternatively : Put early seed potatoes in the fridge NOW, plant in pots outside in mid to late June, transplant into open ground as it becomes clear after other crops.  Be prepared to tackle late potato blight.

Yeah, I know you guys in the tropics can do this without the pots but my frost-free season is a LOT shorter.  Miss out the pots if you have the weather but the seed in the fridge works well.

We planted some our potatoes that were sprouting 3 a pot in jan(I think)to see what happened and they`ve all sprouted, there`s nothing else in the greenhouse and you don`t have to do much so any early new pots will be good.
