just had my first rhubarb in years it was wonderful oh how ive missed it , dont count tinned to sloppy.

its in syrup and is ok if your not going to cook it as its squishy to start

It's amazing when you think how people's perception of rhubarb has changed: it used to be a staple in every garden and kids hated it.  Then it went out of fashion. 

Now it's back in the supermarkets at a "HOW MUCH??" price - around £2 for about 4 or 5 stalks.....

We've always had rhubarb in the garden - stewed, crumbled, jammed (on its own or with ginger - or cloves ifyou don't like ginger), and so on - but I wouldn't pay that price for it.

It grows well & isn't fussy about soil but is grateful for horse manure at intervals, can be harvested from April through to July/August and fills the months until the summer/autumn fruits are available.  In fact, we're planning to get another couple of crowns!
