I've had no eggs from Phyllis for 10 weeks and the other 2 hens have been sporadic at best. I was looking forward to the longer days (TOMORROW!!) when they'd start laying properly again. A partial moult hasn't helped either....
I noticed Phyllis' comb was changing back to deep red from a pale pink and wondered.......
Joy of joys! Three eggs were waiting for me this morning!
That has really made my Christmas!
(My family think I'm nuts but it's a wonderful feeling.....)

mine are also starting to come back into lay including 2 of the appenzellers who have now decided to start laying in the nest boxes instead of the field

Ive been getting 3 eggs a day out of 4 hens, so Im chuffed. This is the second winter that Ive had near full production. Im so grateful to my lovely girls, I do hate buying eggs from the supermarket.
