Put each little plant in its own little pot and they will root, once you can see that each  plant is growing on its own, you can cut the stem that connects it to the mother plant :)

Secure the runner in the pot with a staple made of wire or a decent sized stone or the wind may dislodge them.

They will separate very easily so you will have lots of plants next year.  Strawberries are always best in year 3 so just look forward to 2013!
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)

I`m not sure that bare copper wire is the best stuff to use as i think (not sure) that copper is used in quite a lot of weedkillers.
Should be okay with the insulation still on though.

You can separate them from the parent plant when having removed the wire holding them down, if you give a gentle tug you can feel the resistance, then they have rooted themselves.  I've just separated some that have been in little pots for a fortnight.
Strawberries are quite tough plants, having just received ten bare root plants that I thought needed the kiss of life, and after only 24 hours were romping away.

They're very tough!
I hacked them off, cut them up and squished them into pots with bits of the runner stalk. Most didn't have roots yet but they've all taken fine.....
Wasn't expecting that! With the 12 Albion, I've just got, romping away , 12 Maras de Bois, 12 Flamenco and 12 assorted runners I NEED MORE SPACE!!!! ::) :nowink: :D

yes I never bother rooting when still connected to the parent, i just cut them off and pot them up, 9 out of 10 times they take

Copper is widely used in fungicides.  Some people do not like using it, but it will not kill your plants.
