Some of the fruit might be dropping as the tree can't support it. Also the blackfly is likely to be draining the tree. It depends how fussed you are. You can squish, spray with soapy water or jet spray the blackfly in the hope the tree recovers in time to get some sort of harvest (just don't expect too much). Or you can leave it and just hope for better next year. Ladybirds, their larvae and bees will all be grateful of the blackfly.  :)

What's the variety of cherry? Is it self fertile? It might be that what you're seeing is the result of unpollinated flowers being dropped.

As for the blackfly, I'd spray them with something. Once the blossom has gone you're not going to get the bees. My trees suffer to a lesser or greater degree every year. I cut off the really badly infested tips and spray the rest once with something systematic, but only after the blossom is finished. Even then I stick to spraying the tips as the leaves from older growth are tougher and less affected.

Mine is the same, It's a self fertile dwarf Maynard. I think I might have misunderstood what "self fertile" means?

It's always covered in flowers, about 0.25% form into fruit, about 0.1% of those grow into actual real live cherries.....3 last year I think.
I've netted it this year. There are aout 30 or so remaining, they're all very small though.

I don't know how it is with Cherries, but apples often exhibit "June Drop" where many small forming fruits are dropped by the tree.
