hi  was thinking of putting a few seed spuds in pots in the conservatory [ unheated }/today..then in the unheated greenhouse wen an if they sprout...any thoughts on this

I see no problem for a really early cropping of first earlies - I intend doing the same with some of mine in a few short weeks      Just make sure the pots are big enough and do not freeze if temperatures should take a tumble (winter is far from over yet)  The only other issue that may be a problem is light level - so keeping the rooms unheated should help prevent legginess but worth keeping an eye on

I think BabbyAnn has it all covered, cold/frost will be your worst enemy at the moment and the lack of light! however, after saying that, the weather is so unpredictable these days, what's the worst that could happen?

You may be just as well off to chit them for a month or so and then plant them. Chiting will break their dormancy and start their life cycle.
