hi keith and welcome,i had the same problem with one of mine and after lots of phone calls,e-mails with no luck. i got my myself a run down one and salvaged what i could from it.
have you tried engaging the tines permantly,i know its a pain to run but aslong as your drive gear box is working you could use it.

Hi Shaun. Thanks for the info. The problem I have is that two of the teeth are missing so I do not think that I can engange it permently but I will check.

First, if you're going to strip down the gearbox you will need a service manual.  These are available from a number of sources including ebay.  You should also get the parts manual as well which is separate, but usually included.

Here are a couple of places that seem familiar with the Howard rotavators and have gearbox parts in stock :-

1)  Chester Hudson at Tillerparts :-

http://www.mdr.co.uk/tillerparts/tillerparts.html

2)  Keith at Standen Engineering  01353 661111

Both seem knowledgeable and helpful.

I'm contemplating doing a total re-build of a 350 gearbox - never done this before so it could be an interesting project.

HTH

regards

Grant

Grant.
Thanks for this info I will contact them for a quote.

I have just purchased  the manuals from e-bay.

If I cannot get a replacement at a sensible price I will weld the teeth back and hope that they stay in place.

Hi Keith,
Just stumbled upon your thread and just asking if you had any success with Keith at Standen in Ely?

I have the same issue with gearbox.

Hello Russ

If you are still looking for 64316 rotor selector gear,  I have a new one which I no longer require
but as we are not allowed to sell on this forum I have no idea what to do next
You may be only one person in the world,  but you may also be the world to one person.
