Title: Flower bulbs for cutting - what plants can I grow them through.
Post by: SusieB on October 28, 2015, 06:54
I have loads of extra daffodil and tulip bulbs.  What plants in my veg patch can I grow them through?

Could I grow daffs through strawberries?  As by the time they need dividing, it would be time to renew the strawberries.

And maybe tulips in the rows between asparagus as I don't think they repeat well, so won't need dividing.

I have a row of apple cordons.  Anything alongside them?  Would digging 12 to 18 inches from them disturb the roots?
Many thanks for anybody's thoughts.

at home I planted loads of daffodils round my fruit trees - a splash of colour where it is normally quite drab which also hopefully encourages the bees to visit in early spring and be around when the blossom appears  :)

I've done the same as poster above, daffs in among the fruit bushes and trees.  It looks great in the spring.

Also one year I planted a border of tulips round the beds. Unfortunately I didn't protect from the birds and they all get torn up.
