I knew someone wouldn't be able to resist  :D
We add liberal doses of manure every year and our potatoes are famous for their flavour. The Mennonite people around us also add manure but none of our friends find them as flavourful as ours. We stick with mostly cow manure for the spuds, pigeon and/or poultry poo for the fruits.

At least it's got that joke out of the way for another year!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I have been disappointed with our Pentland Javelin, but very pleased with both Aran Pilot (which was very early - started harvesting at 9 weeks) and Maris Peer

We grew edzel blue too, shared them out between us and my neighbours and we were impressed with their sweet flavour and that they withstood the hot weather and our light soil much better than rocket. I would do them again - another thing I noticed that all the tubers were roughly the same size. They looked like a bunch of giant grapes. Nic.

My Edzell Blues were very tasty and what a great colour after scrubbing them, shame the colour went on cooking.

Have you tried leaving them a few days before you eat them? - Contrary to coventional wisdom for new potatoes, but for my taste I much prefer them this way.

SS

I agree with you Swing Swang, I find if they are left a couple of days the taste and texture are much better.  :)

I agree about leaving them in store for a couple of days. My Pentland Javelin are a real disappointment straight out the ground, they break up when boiled and taste watery. I kept some a couple of days in a paper bag and then they don't break up and I'm sure they taste a lot better.
