Dear WG,
Would you know about some georgian garlic, or (caucasian) that got mentioned a lot recently.  I was itching to try that one.
Enviable garlic, mine was rubbish this year...
Thanks, gobs

Sorry gobs, I don't know it - Trillium might know since she's in the heart of garlic country in Ontario.

I'm a big big fan of porcelain garlic & you've just reminded me that I've got to get my ground ready to plant 100kg of the stuff within the next couple of weeks.

I got some real beauties this year though - largest of them were around the 140gm mark (only 7 heads per kg).

IMHO it is better to get garlic seed from somewhere with colder winters than you have yourself.

One of the garlics I got was Georgian Crystal. It's a milder form of Russian garlic that'll keep the lining of your mouth intact. Georgian Fire is for those who like to play firebreathing dragon    An acquaintance is bringing me some Red Russian, a rather spicy variety.
I see that realgarlicky carries the variety Music which is a good standard and dependable garlic, one that I also got this year. Apparently it has a 'perky' flavour, and prefers cold weather. Our Cdn garlic growing guru says mulching plants with seaweed gives them a mega boost. Plant in late Oct. for next year's crop.
