Potatoes Tomatoes
« on: March 17, 2007, 11:51 »
A few years ago when I knew even less than I do now, I read that they were in the same family. I had seen people grafting trees so I did an experiment:
I grafted a tomato shoot onto a potato shoot and waited for the spuds in the ground and tomatoes on top.
Guess what happened
Former biochemist, now experimenting and having fun. :-)

It got potato blight and then died ?

Or you eat the little fruits that a potato makes and you was ill for a week.. :)

Can I guess again?   You planted it upside down and got subterranean tomatoes underneath green potatoes?

You got a fantastic lush plant that produced neither spuds nor toms just leaves.
Sally (N.Ireland) Organic as far as I know!

Plant plenty.  Celebrate success.  (Let selective memory deal with the rest.)

Great answers guys.

But the truth of the matter is my wife dug up a carrot-coloured potato which is still defying the learned ones in universities around the world.

A single potato?  What did it taste like?  (Did you dare try it?)

Were the toms spud coloured?

Good one!  :D
