Blocking Onions

can anyone tell me or direct me to a supplier for blocking onion plants that i have heard about would like to know the price delivery etc

only got a small garden so only need around 20  to 30 plants


what is the secret of growing good quality beetroot?

mine never seem to swell very much even though i have composted year before, watered well and liquid fed

Don't know about blocking onions - never heard of them, but I do know that beetroot likes feeding with seaweed extract either in liquid form or as calcified. :)
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Not sure, but too much nitrogen can make them through out lots of leaf and less root.  Maybe try potato fertiliser this year?

Where did you hear of these? Could they more commonly be called something else?

Not sure but about the term 'blocking onions' but there is a system of seeding onions in a block.
The idea is to place five seeds, one on center and the other four at 45% angles, when they hopefully all germinate the center seed is cut off and the four remaining seedlings are allowed to grow on. Transplanted as a unit the four seedlings will slowly push each other aside and grow to a full onion bulb without interfering with each other. This system allows more onions to be grown in a smaller space rather that growing by the row.
