Hi all I'm in need of some weed membrane to last 6 months where I'm planning to put my spuds in on an undug 1/4 of the plot. The membrane will need to be 4.5*7m ish so it's quite a lot and I'd rathern not use rolls off 1.5m wide membrane.

Anyone know of some cheap solutions? :blink:

I'm wondering if some tarp will last long enough and do the job or do they degrade wih the sunlight very quickly?

Tarp won't let rain water through whereas weed membrane does.......

It looks like the right stuff but I'm not paying £30 for it! I'd rather use cardboard

I was going to suggest cardboard as it isn't required long-term, but I've not used it myself so don't know how long it would actually last. But if you could get hold of a few big boxes and open them out, you'll soon cover that sort of area.
