Loads of flowers, each just under 2 inches across.

Fragrance? Sort of. It reminds me of pear tree in bloom, fortunately not as strong.  It still is a worthwhile orchid, a reliable winter-blooming plant.

One good thing about a long miserable winter is that when things finally get a bit better, you have a sudden burst of spring colour.  I just had boring stuff like tidy the shed to do in the garden this afternoon, but this lot made it a pleasure  :)

An unusual one that I have not grown before - Dodecatheon.  I grew them from seed last year and got some tiny plants that disappeared over autumn.  They were in small pots, so I put them in the greenhouse over winter.

This spring, I nearly chucked them, but put them out by the cold frame to see if they would do anything.  About 3/4s came up and so I put them in a small container to see what they were like.  Actually they are very pretty  :)

How unusual  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Son #1 works at and organic farm that also produces cut flowers.  The farm also lets him take home vegetables and flowers they don't sell.

He brought these to his mother yesterday, and has been bringing her flowers each week since Mother's Day.

I think so, I picked it up for £2 in terrible condition and have tried to save it. It's given us a great first bloom!

Perhaps the prettiest Christmas decoration of all.

Hellebores are some of my favourite flowers anyway, but the Christmas Rose and a green fern are a little bit of heaven on a grey December day when there is nothing much else in the garden :)
