Is there a wrong sort of soil for dandelions, docks and creeping buttercup? If so, can I have some please?

Honest I've been doing all the right things but they keep coming back to laff at me.

Christine, I would say all of those will grow in just about any soil. Weedkiller is about the only real control if you are inundated with the weeds.

This country is invested with dandelions in particular - you sort your own and someone else blows you some of their seeds.   

You'd think that the darned things were a national treasure. I reckon they should be our national emblem meself.

Look at the cheap exercise you get digging them out, it would cost you hundreds of pounds in the gym.

Yeah right - it's the ones with roots in Australia or in the privet/ hawthorn hedges that are the difficult ones, them dandelions is sneaky in where they grow.

If they are growing in amongst other plants, paint them with Glyphosate.

And that I may well have to do. Been there and had to do that before.  Trouble is that it's a long way up off the knees nowadays. But you is right.

One can just dream of having the wrong sort of soil though.

You HAVE the wrong sort of soil. You want the soil that they don`t grow in.

Dandelions- the French eat them by the bucket full. Eaten green or cooked they are delicious and have a diuretic effect. Hence Google Pis-en-Lit for recipes.
