Title: Which are the outdoor tomatoes?
Post by: Benandbill on May 08, 2011, 15:42
I am growing F1 Incas Outdoor plum type and Alicante but they're both in a plastic mini greenhouse in my back garden.  They're fair sized plants now so I've put them in pots, but typically I don't know which is which.  If one's an 'outdoor one' will it suffer from being in a greenhouse?  Especially a plastic one?!?!

We have trouble getting tomatoes to grow outside here due to climate and have grown successfully both cherry and plum type tomatoes in our polytunnel. The Inca we're growing this year will be "indoor". :)

If it's any help the Incas are bush toms and the Alicante are tall/cordon toms.
Incas can be grown under glass as well as outside, according to DOBIES
http://www.dobies.co.uk/Shop/Grow+your+Own+Tomatoes/Tomato+Incas+F1+Seeds+439075.htm

as can Alicante  ;)

I nip the side shoots off if growing outdoor toms in greenhouse as they bush up too much.  has some success with beefeater toms outside, but depends on site.
