Title: Dahlia's from Tubers
Post by: rugbymad40 on June 24, 2007, 14:29
Hi Folks,

Does anyone know if I am to late to start growing Dahlias from tubers for flowers this year?  I have cactus, pompom's and large decoratives tubers which are sprouting. :?:

Regards

Get 'em in - there won't be there next year to to it otherwise.

Mrs. Digger's are only just coming through from last year's that we started from seed. (Forgot to dig them up!).

I knew some one who grew hundreds, if not thousands, for cut flowers (for sale) and he would start planting his cuttings out in June after danger of frosts was past.

When all the cuttings were in, which would be about now, he would plant the tubers he had taken them from, and they would all grow and flower, but they did all have some healthy shoots on (probably unlike any reduced packets of tubers that might be around the shops at the moment).
