We live in a very windy part of the world and I have been told that a damson is the most resistant to wind fruit tree I can grow.
I would like to grow it in a pot so any advice as to variety, size of pot, pollination problems would be helpful.  Type of compost, feed, etc etc.

I have one in a cold windy north facing area in my garden, and do absolutely nothing to it ......the hardest part is beating the birds to the fruit!

I don't know if a damson would be happy in a pot. The Lythe valley in south Cumbria is famed for its damsons and they are not the sort of trees you can stick in a pot!

There may well be very dwarfing varieties that can be grown in  a pot but you'd hardly get much of a usable  crop from a single small tree.

I also wonder if it would do in a pot and if there are any dwarf varieties you could try. Another wind-proof tree is the blaxckthorn (or sloe).
