Hi,
I've been thinking about getting some goats for a while now and was wondering if anyone could recommend any good books about goat keeping? The plan would be to have a few breeding girls that we would gradually increase and raise the male kids for meat. My in-laws were dairy farmers and now have beef stock so we're quite used to raising meat for slaughter and the heartaches of keeping animals. I'd like a fairly in depth book that covers all the need to know stuff like feeding, health and welfare, weaning, etc but not so bothered about books that describe goat breeds in depth.
Thanks

We have found an author - Lois Hetherington - to be quite good - and recommended to us by others as well - there is also the Brtish Goat society - who produce information

Brilliant, thanks. I've seen the Hetherington book but didn't know if it was any good. I've had a look on the goat society website and they have a lot of useful information but I'd still like a good book as well.

probably a bit late, but have you checked out your local library? Ours have some good books on livestock
