On my Face Book page today someone posted about P ing in the Compost to help with the cycle of Composting, said he had read it via the BBC Gardeners Book, also mentioned P ing in the water Butt claiming Ammonia is good for Plant Life. I know F.B. is really a platform for nonsense but people were agreeing with him. True or False.

True! But not a good idea in your water butt - unless you plan to empty it in one go, as it would get very smelly!
Better to dilute it in a water can and use it straight away.
Bob Flowerdew uses it diluted as a fertiliser, in his books it's always called 'personal liquid waste'

Staying with composting but on a slightly different tack, does anyone have a hot composting bin? If someone has, my question is can they be placed on a patio or should they be placed straight onto the ground?

Best on the ground - never found composting works on hard standing.

Are you meaning a hot bin with a sealed base? If so yes that can go anywhere,but if you mean hot composting in an open bin with no base you would be better as Christine says straight onto soil would be best. The run off would make concrete or slabs very slimy.

My understanding is that male wee is okay to add to the compost but the not ladies , can't recall the reason why.  I'm sure there is information on the web that gives details of what it can be used for.

Tenhens and I have heard the same information on ladies not weeing on the compost heap.

There were no significant differences in the male and female urine. No literature showing the differences in male and female urine has been documented yet.

well you learn more each day on this site I must say I've never resorted to having a P on the compost heap anyway it would be a bit difficult doing that down our allotments i would  probably get charged with flashing

Should I need to ‘go’ at the plot mine goes on the compost, harvested in a bucket in the shed of course to maintain my modesty of course.

My wife and I both use one of these in the shed. Then it's used as
Liquid Gold compost activator
Occasionally diluted and used as Liquid Gold nitrogen boost
Used neat sometimes as Liquid Gold territory marker to let cats and foxes know whose plot it is.

The full name is Ikea PS 2002 watering can, I think it costs about £1.50

unfortunately when we get court short we haven't a garden sheds there banned on the allotments so what to do?

Apparently male wee is slightly less acidic which is supposed to be better.

Always keep a bottle or two of the golden fertiliser in the shed to add to the heap when adding new waste to it, cracking stuff for getting  a heap cooking.
