Someone gave me a compost bin tonight - on the local recycling website. I gave her some salad stuff in return.
What a good idea.
There are apparently similar schemes in some areas.
See hippies can do some things.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

i use the recycling web site all the time. it's great for getting rid of things you no longer need but somebody else might have a use for. i got 5 old doors last week which we are using to make a shelter  on our allotment, i got some roofing felt off someone else and 4 bits of 6ft x 3 ft trellis. we also got loads of old carpet to help keep the weeds down while we slowly clear our over grown plot.

I would imagine every one knows about this but I'll stick a link on all the same,

http://www.recyclenow.com/home_composting/in_your_area/in_your_area.html

I got three and they're great just plum in your post code and see the discounts they offer, be quick though as I think it ends in January 07.

Noshed, click this link:

http://www.freecycle.org/display.php?region=United%20Kingdom

There's a London section about halfway down, simply click on the ones you want to join - it's all run on Yahoo groups.  Some groups let you join automatically, on others the membership has to be approved by a moderator.

I'm on four - Rhondda, Caerphilly, Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan.  Most people join a few of their nearest ones - casts the net a bit wider

Hope this helps!
