Visit to the bees!
« on: July 10, 2023, 06:35 »
I'm beyond excited.

Three bee hives have arrived near my son's allotment, yesterday we sat having our coffee listening to them buzz and very therapeutic it was too.  We'd had a delayed start because we were watching fox cubs playing but that's another story

When time came to go I got chatting to the guy who owns the hives and he invited me to join him when he gives them their weekly check on Wednesday, he's got all the protective gear for me to borrow.

I also got to taste some of the honey from last year, oh boy was it delicious.

Can't wait, feel like a kid on the countdown to my birthday.

I'd love to have a supervised look at the workings of a bee hive.  Don't like honey as in honey sandwich on or toast but use it frequently as an ingredient.

What an honour. I am totally in awe of these creatures.  The beekeeper is hoping to set up a small group of beekeepers under his supervision next spring.  My name is already down on the list.  Got a taste of the honey, smooth and silk and not over sweet.

A blissful couple of hours.

I take my hat off to him.  I had not fully appreciated/realised the time commitment required.  It must have been a full time job.  One hive under supervision will be more than enough for me.
