My rhubarb is back !
« on: January 27, 2012, 20:43 »
Last year when I picked some rhubarb the stems were hollow and after that, nothing at all.
I was sure it was dead......I've checked it today and it's back although the shoots seem to be approx 6-8 inches away from where it usually grows.
I put a bucket over it,is this the correct thing to do?
I love rhubarb :D
It's only thing I've ever grown until now.
It's better to burn out than to fade away !!     ;)

Re the bucket - only do it if you're prepared not to pick any next year.

Forcing it takes the energy out of the plant and it needs a year of not being picked to recover.

I don't do it.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Yes - don't want to burn the new growth you've just got.
