Rhubarb dying back
« on: May 19, 2014, 15:58 »
Hi

I planted a bit of rhubarb root which my father in law took from his plant in Autumn. It was growing well but has now completely died back. I assume that is not normal?

Thanks

Had you tried to harvest from it at all?  Had you watered it regularly?  Did it have any fertiliser added when you planted it?  Is it in sun?

Rhubarb takes time to establish, and water / feed / sun will help.  If you harvest from it too soon after transplanting / planting out, then the plant will be too weak to regenerate.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
