Title: beetroot

If you look at the leaves close up can you tell me what those little marks are on the leaf is it pests

Could be sun scorch again, that's the trouble with showers and strong sunlight.

Or it could be flea beetle.

Very typical flea beetle damage. As the leaves enlarge what is a tiny nibble becomes a hole. Keep the soil damp and the damage will stop.

PS That is a bit of a rough old seedbed for beet.

Not as rough as when they sow them in fields.  :)

I'd be more inclined to say it was something fungal after zooming in on the picture but either way the plants will grow out of it I'd imagine. As long as the bit below ground is OK then all's well  :)

I'll be interested to know if they grow ok in that soil considering the fannying on I do to make a decent seedbed. If you remember maybe you could be bothered to show us another pic when you are ready to harvest them. If they are ok I'll just chuck mine in next year  :D

Thay are growing okay I will show you a picture soon
