My greenhouse ones throw out tendrils and climb up like a vine.
Cheese makes everything better.

They will grow up or can be left down like pumpkin, but if you leave the 'fruit' on the earth they tend to rot, so place a piece of tile or wood under them :)

My cucumbers have stayed at the six inch size for the last few weeks.  They simply refuse to grow. We have no flowers or anything. They are in the greenhouse but I have this year moved them to the other side rather than grow them where they have before.  Next year they go back to the far left hand side because they seem to like it there.

My greenhouse cues are about 3ft high the one outside ( relegated through lack of room ) is only about a foot up a few canes, but that is the one that has already fruited :)
Life is strange

Off topic I know but we planted Cobra beans alongside our wigwam.  They are now producing beans at about 1 foot high and don't like to climb. Never had this problem before.  Going to take out the BB's this weekend as they seem to have come to an end and move the wigwam over and have got new seeds to try runners. (the packet says you can plant until early July, so here's hoping).

Sorry  but still off topic : Wighty,  i often plant another row in front of the old ones, so if the oldies run out of steam the new ones can take over to extend the season if the weathers kind :D

we've got 4 cucs growing up canes. 2 in g'house and 2 outside. First cucs were lovely but 2 later ones were lime green and bitter, which may mean (apparently) too much water or not enough... that's helpfuil then :)

Sounds like they were too old to me. That's the way they go.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've planted them in a large 4 sided wooden box about 12" high X 4'6 X 4'6  if I make a netting trellice for them to climb up do you think that would work ok, I dont really want them rotting by laying on the soil
