Title: how round should cucumbers grow?
Post by: 3759allen on July 04, 2013, 11:04
i'm getting a little worried about one of my cucumbers getting too fat and not long enough.

it's prob about 15cm long and going on 7cm wide. it looks like a real fatty. it still has the pointy pimple things on it (don't know the proper name for them).

the variety is perfection (from premier seeds) and the other plants are producing normal size/ proportioned sized fruit.

basically is it too fat?

i don't want it to putting too much weight on the stem or take too much energy out of plant so it won't produce any more fruits.

should i cut it off now or leave it to grow on longer and hope it comes good?

if i do cut it will it be ok to eat and taste ok?

thanks in advance.

I woud cut it off as you have others that are coming along.

There is only one way to find out if it is good enough to eat  -  eat a bit!

advice taken, just finished eating the monster thing.

tasted a little bitter, but tasted worse.

a lot of the first fruit of each plant seems to be too round / swelled. after i cut this one off the rest seem to be growing more normal shape.
