Spuds away
« on: March 31, 2008, 21:26 »
Hi everyone, not posted for a while, been rather busy.
Saturday got our first earlies planted out (covered in fleece) these are swift and supposed to be ready for lifting aprox 8 weeks from planting, with a follow up crop for a later planting.

Our maincrop maris piper are chitting nicely.

Sunday planted out 100 sets of sturon onions, 38 turbo onion sets, the rest of the turbo had rotted ( so much for buying to early from wilkinsons) I would have returned them but no longer have the reciept. And 18 shallots for pickling. We don't use many shallots so this amount suits us for pickling.

The end of April beginning of May we have 300 leeks for transplanting, aprox 60 stuttgart giant onions and aprox 75 unwins exhibition onions all for planting out and grown from seed.

Parsnips already sown. Beetroot to follow.

Now we can concentrate on the brassicas, peas and beans etc.

Hope everyone is growing away like mad, there's nothing like watching a seed develop into a sturdy plant and on to a amture vegetable.
