Gawd I'm stiff!

Good evening foragers/gatheres,  a stroll along the canal to a little field we know of,  We came back with 6lbs blackberries, 8lbs of crab apples and about 10lbs of damsons.  The sloes are still growing, but we have our eye on them.

The damsons are jammed and in jars outside cooling, the 'brambles/blackites' and the crabs will be jarred up tomorrow.

People say...sloes have more flavour after trhey have had a touch of frost. But if there is no frost forecast bung 'em in the fridge or freezer overnight.  Could you tell us how large 'domesticated' sloes get?

If I was offered a thimble-sized tincture, I'd reckon it was a joke, but it did happen in the first, (the proper version, not the later silly disaster) 'Darling buds of May', when Pop and Ma go to dinner with the Jereboams...
