anyone got a good source of cheap seeds?  I used to go to Wilkinsons but they seem a bit more expensive recently.

Bought mine at end of last year when shops (wyvales) sell them off cheap, 50p a pack for T&M with 2010 dates on.

If you have a netto near you they are 19p a packet not a huge range but we have had really good outcomes with all seeds we bought courgette and little gem are doin great also winter veg is coming along well .

There is a garden centre near Newton Abbot, who sell T & M and Suttons seeds at half price. Guess where I purchased my parsnip seeds ( see planting parsnips thread)

I bought some seeds from Lidl the other day, carrots were 28p packet, Nantes and Norfolk giant which I have never come across before, and Pea Meteor which were 49p packet, quantity of seeds seemed similar to other companies.

I bought all mine 50% off at the local garden centre in last Summer's sale.

Turns out not to be that good a deal Didn't know that back then!

Bought all "quality" brands - Sutton, Unwins, T&M

Half price is half of, probably, an average price of £1.50 to £2.50

There are online retailers who's normal price is 99p

There are eBay retailers (no idea of quality) a lot cheaper

I bought Parsnip and Sweetcorn which, although marked for 2009 or 2010 really need to be brought fresh for current season

The seed from my local "garden centre shed" in effect "cooks" in their warehouse

I'm going to be a bit more choosy this year

Cheapest seed of all is that which you save and collect youself - cost of envelopes only

I have just collected loads of rocket, land cress and lambs lettuce seed from overwintered plants with enough shed on the plot to provide forests of seedlings at end of summer.

Broad beans, climbing french beans and sugar snap peas all growing well from home saved seed.

Well worth a go
