Not the greatest choice for pots I think; even at a push you need about a foot between each plant and they also need to be planted in blocks to improve pollination.
You also will be lucky to get more than one cob per plant which you might not think is a good use of space and compost unless you are prepared to grow them as much for novelty value as food!

I have seen it done but watering, pollination and keeping the plant from falling over in the wind, will require attention.

Our local park has a large walled vegetable garden anyway they have sweetcorn planted in growbags with 5 plants to a bag. They are taller than me and have at least 3 cobs of corn per plant. To say I was jealous when I saw them was an understatement. I am going again this week and will try and get a picture. They have them in one of the greenhouses.

I have 3 growing in 7 litre pots. they're about 4-5ft tall and I think I'll get one cob from the 3. But the novelty value for my daughter of growing some popcorn is great :)
