You can plant October time for autumn planted sets or you can get sets for spring planting.
It depends what varieties you fancy/can get at local garden centre/wilkos  :)

You normally plant it from November to January. This year's autumn supply isn't even likely to be in stores yet.

Well mine would be but I've decided not to use my own cloves now. I haven't checked the website of the company I'm going to buy from in the past couple of days to see if its available yet. :D

Update, just checked the website of the company I'm going to buy from... the garlic I'm going to buy isn't available yet. ;)

According to their website, yes really. ;)

It isn't September yet, or at least it isn't September in Scotland yet.

have saved 8 bulbs from this year's harvest to split and plant out in October ready for next year. This is the first year the garlic grew wondefully - previously I didnt have a great yield and the "why am I bothering" feeling crept in!

I plant mine out in late September as it's more convenient for me, and our weather tends to get nasty in Oct. Doesn't matter the exact time as long as its fall. The small growth it puts out this year will turn into larger bulbs for next year, often whoppers.

I know a fellow who plants his in late November and gets fab crops. Garlic are cold weather lovers.
