Got a new problem now, which is just as well that I never put the new girls in with the old girls straight away.........one of my old girls seems a bit poorly.  She looks good (body & feathers) and there is no dirty or blooming bottom.  She just keeps going to a corner, shaking her head and is not really eating at all.  When I pick her up, she almost groans. I think I may put her on her own just in case - seems she may appreciate that anyway as she is the oldest hen of all 21 of them!  But, now I don't want to put the new girls in with the others in case any of them have what Betty has.  Any clues?

It would help if you first eliminate the usual suspects

Does she have a temperature?  You can tell this by feeling under the wing of one of your other birds then under her wing to see if she feels hotter.

When was she last wormed?

Are there any little visitors?  lice or redmite can make a hen look and feel poorly.

Has she got an injury?  You said that she groaned when you picked her up.  is there a warm or swollen area on her legs.  How are her wings?

How does her crop feel?

I think you are wise to keep the new birds separate until this is resolved.  In the meantime Good Luck!

is she still laying? if you put your hand underneath her between her legs how does that feel? How old is she? What breed is she (different breeds live to different ages and lay for different lengths of time).
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thanks everyone for the advice.  I have eliminated the usual probs that we get with the hens and she is regularly wormed.  She is 4yrs old, a Ross Lohman and I have had her since she was a pullet.  No temperature, injury or anything obvious. Most strange.  I have put her in on her own anyway - just to be sure.

white liquid could be a kidney problem or just stress, as she is 4 which isn't a bad age for a Lohman so she may be getting near the end of her time. If you are sure she isn't egg bound, suffering with egg peritonitis, sour crop, compacted crop, no temp, no chest rattles, snotty nosed, bubbly eyes etc then let her out and let her enjoy herself with the others.

Yes...I have just been and checked on her and was thinking I might do that, in the hope that she has not got any of those.  Cannot be 100% but I am as near as damn it!!
She is such a sweetie and I would hate to think she is suffering.  Maybe visit vet in the morning.
