Indeed, it was. The Village Sheep Fair men had been up to the Wattle House (on the Green), and bought back to the venue, enough tables and chairs for the 53 sold tickets (I told you she has a huge house !) They had moved a lot of her big furniture and set it up. Lovely white table clothes with embroidery. Assorted 1930,1940 and 1950 China, cake stands, teapots, cutlery etc.etc. It all looked so pretty. I have never seen so many cakes and scones (with cream and homemade jam) Tiny bite size, pastries with little savouries on, and wonderful baby sausage rolls.
We have left, swilling with tea and very fully tummies. It was a brilliant afternoon, and so many people had worked so hard baking etc.
Three wonderful raffle prizes, (50p a ticket), and I am sure many donations. When we left, the home-owner said she had so far got over £700. So that is our village "children in need" done.
Tomorrow the chairs and tables have to go back into storage, and the lady's furniture returned to its rightful place.
What a supportive Village, I live in.
