Title: plastic and saving our planet
Post by: mrs bouquet on April 30, 2018, 13:41
The other day watching the News, some protestors were upset about something, and to make their point, released a very large quantity of helium balloons.   But have they considered where these balloons will land, will they get caught up in the horns of stag or cattle, will they just hang in trees forever, where will they go and what potential damage will they cause.

So whilst making a protest point, maybe consideration should be given to where the plastic and bits of ribbon go.   Aren't we all supposed to be making our Planet a safer place to live.

Every little bit of care counts surely.    Mrs Bouquet

agree completely.
people need to think on about where things end up and the potential problems that can be caused.

I think that protest was the one at Alder Hey hospital after the death of the small baby Alfie. Probably the crowd was more fixated on other issues than plastic and the planet.

where I am in favour of anything that will encourage cleaning up the planet I wish they would start here because the amount of litter that's discarded around the countryside including plastic bottles beer tins and many more

sometimes i think we mite be flogging a dead horse because most if not all this problem is caused by people that really couldn't give a cus all be it in the hedge or in the sea

it seemed some one has actually got a grip of punishing fly tippes not before time

Pretty ironic how much plastic waste gets released into the environment round here when the blue recycling bins are put out for collection on very windy days.  ::)  :nowink:

Like those pesky chinese lanterns that were all the rage once!  Thankfully they seem to no longer be fashionable to release ....

O" i forgot to mention in my previous reply we are having new recycle bins very shortly no more little blue and red bins for plastic and paper no more tins and plastic blowing across the road when its a windy collection day

the downside is the recycle green waste bin is going unless you what to pay for it to be collected i fear this is a bad move on the council as more garden waste is going to be fly tipped "Happy days A"

Yes I agree. I also wonder how many more plastic bags are used now most dog owners put the poo in plastic bags when out walking them. Every time we cut back with such things like the 5p charge for carrier bags, something else seems to come along to counteract it.
