Title: Bullying hen
Post by: Frizzle1 on June 13, 2020, 19:32
Can anyone give any advice to stop one of my hens bullying one particular hen in the flock they have everything they need and are free range. She was so bad last week she made the other hen bleed where she was trying to get away she must have ran into something. The bleeding was so bad I had to bath her and keep her separate for a few days but she’s better now but it’s still the same. I’m at a loose end now as what to do for the best. They are all bearded Silkies but this one is bigger I think she is a ordinary silkie maybe that’s why. She’s not plucking feather at all and two more won’t go near her she’s so nasty

Some try beak clips.
I have always picked up an offending hen and put under my arm, carry her around for a while, whilst chatting. I prefer to be the boss. Might have to repeat it

What about trying a water pistol. Not the super soaker just a squirt props from a washing up bottle.
