Am arranging collection in a few weeks time.
I have to dismantle existing installation. Its a 8 x 6 and has some sort of green mesh over it
Any tips or hints around either the dismantling or reconstruction?
What are the must have tools that I should ensure we have taken?

You will probably get more replies John frm people who know what they are talking about, but main thing you need is right sized spanner for all the nuts and bolts, many of which will shear off on you if they've been there for some time.
Perhaps take a few photo's of what the greenhouse looks like from different angles, as you end up saying, I forgot where I took this bit off!!
or even take little stickies with you to write on which bit you've got, like left hand side upright or whatever.
OK OK but I know what I mean even if no one else does!!! :lol: :lol:

Stack the glass vertically!

If you can get the current owner to spray some WD40 onto the nuts and bolts now then it gives time for it work in and help free them up.

If its a modern greenhouse, most of the bolts will have 10mm heads.
Take a permanent maker pen with you and number each bit. put the number next to a rough drawing you've done of the g/house before you start to take it apart.
All the houses I've ever taken down, I've never needed to completely dis-assemble them. I take all the glass out, then the centre roof bars, followed by the intact sides and ends ( big transit van)

I like the idea of only taking it apart enough to fit in the white van man's van..
... also the marking of the bits in situ with labels lol

we got ours from e-bay :D
the sellers had already dismantled ours, but done it in sections. So all roof part was still together, sides were still together etc. so when we rebuilt it, it was a case of fitting the sections together. Insteed of starting from scratch :D

i got a greenhouse from a friend who have had it for about 11 years i had to drill alot of the bolts out use cordless drills instead of plug in drills as the virbation speed isn't as bad and take a spanner set with you because alot of people don't change the bolts for the proper ones and if you can the side pieces take the bars out that hold the rectangluar frame rigid and then it should just fold up together for easier transportation. Aswell you will need a large flat blade screwdriver at about 2mm thick and about 1/2cm wide trust me on this one as i have built alot of greenhouses for people who don't have the paintence.

And a lot of the bolt heads will sheer off rather than undo. Be prepared to knock the heads out of the spanner because they tend to wedge.
I also took a roll of gaffer tape to fix sections together. Otherwise they can wave about all over the place. And make sure you gather all the rubber together. I lost the door glass seating rubbers somewhere along a dual carriageway ! :roll:
If you can take a ratchet spanner you may find it easier too. And a pair of pliers (pref thin nose) for removing awkward glazing clips.
Plus a few pots to put them all in. Lots of newspaper for palcing between panes of glass when you stack them.
Can't think of anything else.

Gaffer tape
Camera
ratchet spanner
pliers.. various including thin nose
containers for small bits
newspaper/bubble wrap
charged cordless drill
spanner set
Flat bladed screwdriver (50 x 2)
sticky labels
marker pen
WD40
Pad of paper and pen
So not much then ;)

Just about covered.
I took masking tape to tag the parts.
Old blankets for padding the glass.
I made sure I also had spare clips and fixings for the rebuild.

Greenhouse in great nick...
.. only one bolt was an issue and that was more about rounding than the thread so sorted in a jiffy with some pliers. Took the grennhouse down, bubblewrapped the glass and loaded the van inside 2 hours
.. just have to wait for a few weeks to move a small apple tree (couple of years in situ then shift my compost heaps, level the ground and start putting it all back together.. bet it takes longer than 2 hours lol

Well its now up in the back garden :)
Took 5 hours to put back together including a lunch break
Looks great and already has some borlotti bean plants upside down drying off and the recently harvested spuds and squash hardening off
