Pickled gherkins

I would like to pickle my own gherkins at some point am i right in thinking they are just small cucumbers? If so advice please.

I grew some this year Fallen Angel, they are called pickling cucumbers. They are considerably smaller than the salad ones. I think I got the seed from Wilkos or Lidl. I have done one jar so far, they havent cropped too well, possibly the poor summer, or cos theyre in pots.

I will see what they taste like before I make a decision about growing them next year. Then I think I would plant them in the ground rather than pots.

yes it is a small cuc. but you must pickle them before they get above 3 inches long before they taste bitter in some cases  sweet pickle is the best way in my book ( cos i love em from lidls )
