we inherited two cherry trees, but unfortunately they aren't the sweet variety....monsieur used to make eau de vie apparently.  Last year I made cherry brandy (don't know why, I don't like brandy), ended up giving it away.  Has anyone any ideas what I can do with two trees laden with lots of acidic cherries?...They look pretty, and the birds like them if nothing else.
We also have a quince (think that is what it is, the neighbour makes jam, but it is an aquired taste...one that we haven't aquired)..any other ideas?

I planted two sweet cherry trees in the autumn, but caterpillars have had a good go at one of them, so don't know if they will produce anything this year...also I think I have heard fruit trees don't produce much fruit the first year or two of planting?

don't know how to go about it WG.  There is a mobile distillery man who does the rounds once a year, but it is so traditional it is scary....haven't the courage to approach him.
Cherry chutney?  I will have to google that.
