At last my 8 new ex ladies are here!  (Not quite as scruffy as I thought they'd be)

Dora (the explorer) first one out every day, first one in the shed etc etc
Blondie - looks like she's got hilites and loves to sunbathe
Florence - bit of a limp - we're having to nurse her
Boudicea - right scruffy little fighter
4 more have no names yet although my niece suggested 'fast one' (she's 4)

The truth is that I got them last Sunday but I've been sat watching them for a week and haven't been on line at all!!!!!

Yes, the original party animal was to be found at 6.30am on bank holiday monday with a cup of tea, in her exquisite Primarche jammies, sat watching the chooks come out of their little house.  The first one took 20 minutes to negotiate the ramp, and after an hour & a half another 3 had taken the plunge and I decided to give the remaining four a helping hand.

One week later they are pushing and shoving to be out first to get down to breakfast!!

Despite being warned that there wouldn't be any eggs or that they'd go off lay we've had an average of four eggs every day - & the yolks are getting progressively more yellowy.  

All the warnings about wasting time watching chooks are true.  They are so entertaining..  They loved their butternut squash & celeriac mash today - it's the high life for them now!  Much relieved that the dogs are not eating them too and they're all getting used to each other.

Thanks to everyone on here for their advice.  Any ideas what breed they are?
