I'm still wishing, we haven't had anything.  Not a  spit or a spot.  We also can't do any mowing as there is nothing to mow as it's all brown and shriveled.  We also haven't had much to eat tonight as neither of us has any appetite as the oppresive weather is wearing us down.

Relentless, oppresive heat here, horrible and sticky tonight. On the way back from the curry house tonight my friend and I spotted huge amounts of flashing in the sky, turns out there's been  huge lightning storms a few miles up  the road from us, lit up the Northern sky like a strobe effect!

Warm and still but thick mist or cloud so we own all we can see again. More lightning late last night so frantic pulling of plugs and cables. They're promising yet more this afternoon.

Not just me then (at 0200 this morning - don't tend to get many storms here but one we had about a dozen years ago took out my phone line for over 4 weeks and fried my broadband router!)

9mm of rain from a very noisy storm - first rain for weeks. 

Forget the notion that a storm freshens the air - already 22C with 95% humidity here.

For the past (almost) 3 hours we've had thunder, lightning and quite heavy rain.

Just now the sun's come out.  Still got thunder rumbling though.

Rain and storms were in the forecast, but we had none. 27C already and no hint of a breeze, so far

As early as 8 am today I sure wasn't going out to have my morning brew and decided to do indoor jobs today because despite a hazy blue sky there's not a hint of a breeze, rather humid, and it's very, very HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blisteringly hot again today but around 6-ish we had a huge downpour, thunder, lightning, the lot!

Well the weather persons say "There's going to be heavy thunderstorms"  but I see the cumulus clouds build up only to overconvect and die away not quite making it to Nimbus stage.  Days and days of sticky humid weather here.  I don't know how I stood two years of similar weather in both Singapore and Hong Kong, but then I were only a slip of a lad...

We had a little rain in the early hours, but it hardly even wet the surface, certainly nothing in the pot saucers, on the plus-side it does feel a bit cooler, so far, today

Yesterday we had mammoth thunderstorms over night with, we're told, 22-23 days' rain all at once. 

Flooding in the usual place but, more tragically a (fortunately early morning, so only 12 inc staff) train derailed with 3 dead and 6 injured.

As I said on the Rain thread - careful what you wish for...
