Hello just spoken to a gas boiler engineer it seems it's a faulty boiler, it's been condemned the threads on the connectors are wrong and something to do with the jets ,,the instructions cant be read as they're in foreign, and the installation company cant be contacted    jezza

Your neighbour sounds like an idiot  ::)

Well done you for telling him there was a problem, jezza.  Even if he did reply obnoxiously... you may have saved their lives.

Given his attitude which says a lot about his personality, saving his life might have been detrimental to the human race. He sounds like a right piece of scum.

We're on Calor and our Worcester Bosch boiler is covered on a maintenance plan. £25 a month which is expensive but that includes a service each year. The Bosch engineers do a thorough 'by the book' job - unlike the previous guys who serviced the boiler. The first time he stripped it and asked if it had ever been serviced as there was a build up of dust in the gubbins.
New this, that and the other (covered by the plan) resulted in the boiler running more quietly and using less gas. Plus less likely to breakdown in a cold spell.
Your neighbours could have all ended up dead in their bed with CO poisoning.

That is very true.  Maintenance and insurance plans are not cheap, but it is false economy to stint on boiler servicing.  You could well end up paying an awful price.

Hopefully your neighbour will reflect on that jezza and be a bit more pleasant in future.  You can’t judge someone from a single exchange.  They may have been worried about repair bills, having a bad day or just caught at a bad time.  That doesn’t excuse rudeness, but it is understandable.  Anyone can be an idiot and everyone is now and then.  You were right to warn him, however he feels about it.

Anything less than ' by the book ' should be deemed unacceptable and at risk of serious consequences.
Before we moved to 'Tenhens Towers' one of our neighbours was and still is a gas  boiler engineer , he told us that he is subject to stringent checks to retain his operating requirements . He was always in demand .

British gas have just installed a new boiler at my son's.  The estimator said two men for a day which my son thought was cutting it fine. It turned out to be two men for two and a half days.
