Hi Everyone!  Does anyone know how to tell when a hen is ready to be separated from her chicks?  Our chicks are 5 weeks old but our broody hen doesn't want to leave them and they cheep for her when we have tried to separate them.  Thanks!

I tend to let them make their own minds up, but generally after Mum has started laying again at 5ish weeks she starts to make her way back to the coop at bedtime and the babies just follow

If you want to keep them separate then I would remove them at night into their new quarters they will still chirp for mum but will get the hang of it in a day or two
