Bolted Ruhbarb
« on: April 16, 2009, 09:24 »
My rhubarb and a few other on my site seem to have bolted  :(

I know i have to cut the flower off , but if possible could someone tell me the correct way to go about this?

Do i just cut the flower? or twist and pull the complete flower stem as if i was harvesting it?

Also why has alot of the rubarb on my site bolted is there anything i can do to prevent this in future?

Cheers MW.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

It is what rhubarb does. Cut it off cleanly at the bottom.

Thanks for your advice Salmo , so u reckon best cut the flower stem not pull and twist as normal harvesting.

A job for my new Opinal knife at last  :)

Well - don't!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
