2nd night for the new girls and Daddy is having new parent anxiety. Mottled Pekin (name tbc) isn't roosting in the coop but is squatting down on the floor under the perches. (I didn't notice what she did last night.)

Is this because:

a) Pekins don't roost?
b) She's currently too small to get her feet over the large bars of the coop?
c) She's upset cos I hoiked her out of the tree she was sitting in and is sulking on the floor to make me worry and feel bad?
d) Other suggestions......I dread to think.

Maximum one unhelpful suggestion per person please.

try gently placing her on the perch late at night whilst she is sleepy. You may have to repeat this several times (even several weeks) until she gets the idea. It is natural for a bird to roost (hence them sleeping in trees like lots of mine do).

Some times it can take a while!

I have three,

One got the idea after a day,

One after a week

The last one still hasnt and its been 6 weeks!  Almost ready to give up!
