Title: Broody hen abandoned eggs over night
Post by: Sam Carter on June 15, 2020, 00:17
Hi all, I have a broody silkie with 8 fertilised eggs, she has been on them for about 5 days. I checked on her before going to bed and all was fine.  This morning however she was sat on the wrong nest brooding an unfertilised egg that must have been laid yesterday.  The fertilised eggs were really cold. I put her back on them and she has gone back in to brood mode, the question is are the fertilised eggs all now doomed? Should I take them away and try with a new batch?

I would leave her.
When I had a broody,I would separate her from the others as others would lay their eggs with her and kick one out.
