Growster, we do have Kudzu here. It it mostly a problem where land has been cleared, but not maintained through agriculture, silviculture, landscaping, etc. It will climb and cover trees and buildings if not controlled.

Quite a lot of deciduous trees round here still look like skeletons and are only just starting to bud.  :(
