Hard Work Paying Off
« on: June 15, 2009, 10:12 »
I'm as pleased as punch .... dug up a third of my row of Charlotte potatoes at the weekend and got a fantastic 10lb of scrummy spuds!  :D

Dinner on Saturday night was lamb chops cooked in red wine and shallots , served with carrots , new potatoes and mange tout .... best bit was that I only had to buy the lamb and the mange touts !

Nicest dinner I have had for a very long time!

Permission has just been granted for me to erect a greenhouse on my brother's plot , so there will be no stopping me now!

Loving this allotment lark!

Keep smilin'
Sal

Staffies are softer than you think.

Growing mange touts already , but as they only went in a week ago , no chance of having them at the weekend  ???

Shame I can't make things grow any quicker!

Those potatoes look great on your website - hope mine turn out as good - still resisting having a furtle yet, as the flowers have still to come out

Thanks Barney , I'm dead proud of them  :tongue2:

Taste fantastic , couldn't believe how much better they could actually taste.

Not all of my plants have flowered yet , but judging on what I have dug out so far , I think that they're just about ready.. don't you?

Its my first year on spuds - so short answer is I've no idea! Just hoping there's something down there for my efforts

My mange tout haven't flowered yet, but my peas have and I've just spotted my first ever peapod - so here's hoping it turns into something good :tongue2:

No flowers on my peas yet  :(  Broad beans and runners now flowering and some of my toms are flowering too

Yellow courgettes flowering and fruiting , green courgettes are further behind though

My first time at growing anything and it seems that I may have inherited my Gran's green fingers ... either that or it's beginners luck!

Sounds like its all happening for you - my first real year on veg too - have dabbled a bit in the past, but have had great germination rates so far (think I might be in my own microclimate), I just hope I can bring a lot of it to fruition. Next year we'll know if it really was beginners luck eh?
