Would look nice in a twee veggie patch, but I have found the discarded lengths of guttering after the peas have been planted inverted at various places around the garden also collect numerous slugs and snails.

I just use pop bottles with the tops cut off and inverted back into the body and staple them or weld them with a soldering iron. keeps the pellets away from the wild life, the slugs pop in for a snack find it hard to get out again and I can see the pellets are working. Periodically I pick up and replace wilt new traps.

If I put beer in I have the bottom into the ground and little and if I have pellets I jave the front lower than the back so water will not get in and make my pellets wet.

It's an interesting idea. I've done something similar with terracotta pots suspended on canes stuffed with straw. But, that was to trap earwigs.
I am sure you could make one of these 'slug bells' yourself with a little ingenuity.
