Here in South Wales they are currently off to bed about 7!

Summer nights we were chasing them to bed!!! Esp if it had been raining as they seemed to be up partying after dark!!!!

My Partridge Pekin is in bed by 6.15 ( maybe to get the best position on the perch)! The others stay out late until 6.45. I'm in the Midlands, so maybe this will be the average time.

My girls always take themselves to bed just as its getting dark. The boss goes in first and 'calls' for the others, there is a lot of chunnering and boking , but within 10 mins everyone is sorted and all is quiet :D

all mine head for bed about 7pm. The cocks are usually the first to go, and end up trying to chivvy up the ladies if they are late :)

Mine hang around til after dusk, and I usually have to chivvy the last ones in almost in full dark - which is at 7:30 (and getting earlier every day!)

My babies go first, then the teenagers and the mothers go last. At present they are in bed by 7pm but creeping earlier and earlier. We're in Yorkshire. We got the mums in March and the earliest i remember them going to bed was before 6pm. Wonder if they will go at 4.30 when it gets really dark?

They will and you have to be there to close the coop door or MR Fox will be there.

Or invest in an automatic pop hole opener/closer!  Finally bit the (pricey) bullet and ordered ours today
1 lovely hubby, 3 dogs, a bunny and 7 ex batts and a shiny new lottie!  (so far)

I have one.  They are great.
but............
TIP
If you have a wooden coop and a wooden pop hole door/cover then beware it can freeze shut in the winter and the fishing line will break leaving your hens cooped up all day.  I changed the wooden pop hole door/cover for a sheet of metal.
